Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How Long Will The Polish Last?
A:
The polished concrete will last decades. There’s no wax, epoxy,
acrylic, or any other surface applied coatings that will eventually
fail.
Q: Is There Any
Maintenance Required?
A:
Just a quick mop up when it gets dirty and timely removal of any
spills.
Because the concrete has been densified, it is essentially non
porous and will resist oil, grease and chemical saturation if spills
are wiped up promptly.
Q: How is it Done?
A: An orbital Grinder is fitted with coarse
grit diamond pads to remove enough surface material to achieve a
flat appearance, free of any irregularities (scratches high spots,
discoloration etc) and to reveal the preferred aggregate exposure.
The machine is moved slowly over the slab in an overlapping pattern
to grind and remove the material into a high velocity vacuum system
that safely removes all dust and debris.
The next step is to densify the slab using a liquid
densifying agent that is applied to the surface of the slab, and
allowing it to penetrate deeply into the cells of the concrete.
This turns the slab into a harder non- porous surface
improving it’s polishing potential.
Q: Is it Expensive?
A:
It's significantly more affordable than almost all alternatives and
it gives a look that is absolutely priceless. Additionally when you
factor in the maintenance costs and the over all longevity and
durability of the Slab Fabulous System, it’s pretty hard to beat.
Q: My Slab is in Really Bad Condition. Will I Not be Able to Do This?
A:
Yes most slabs can be polished.
To be certain, we can send out a member of our team to
quickly evaluate your slab. Most imperfections can be removed or
blended into the general appearance of the slab.
However, imperfections generally add to the character beauty
of the end product. The cost of removing and replacing your existing
concrete slab is significantly more expensive than this process.
Q: I have children and pets. Are
there any harmful chemicals I have to worry about?
A:
No. The process is eco-friendly and conforms to the requirements
for “green construction projects”.
