Grinding and Polishing
This process does more than simply shine a dull grey slab. The initial grinding phase removes the thin surface of cement to reveal the rich color and texture of the aggregate below. Initially the grinding process will reveal the sand and smaller aggregate to reveal a look similar to granite. If you decide to remove even more material, the larger aggregate becomes exposed and the appearance resembles a terrazzo floor. After the preferred grind is achieved, we then begin the polishing steps and finish when the end result is achieved. The finished product feels very similar to a polished natural stone like marble. Any imperfections or cracks will only add to the beauty of the finished product. Each slab is different and holds a unique set of qualities, which makes each slab a one-of-a-kind finished product. We offer sheen finishes in flat, matte, semi-gloss, high gloss or mirror sheen.
